In Debi Gomez's (the owner of Life’s Images and the Hope Calendar) own words:

"I love photography and have enjoyed making maternity, newborn and family portraits for 9 years.  4 years ago I was blessed with the opportunity to move to a new city and take my photography to full time status.  It was challenging to go full time AND move to a new {big}city at the same time, and I needed something to spread my business name and gain some brand recognition.  I tried donating items to auctions and tried "model calls" for displays in stores - these things weren't working for me.  Then it hit me - why should the model call be for a store display? - if I instead put the pictures into a calendar, the "display" would be spread out and more personal - hanging right there in people's kitchens!  It turns out this is very exciting for models and their parents too :)  AND better yet, donating the proceeds from the calendar sales {a few thousand dollars!} to charity gives me a way not just to brand my business but to do some substantial good in the community - and the parents get to share in that feeling too.

I have found that a passion for my business (yes I said “business” not just “photography”) is paying off and the charity calendar you will read about here was a great jump start for that – fueling not only my business but my  inspiration and motivation and passion!"

The Calendar project was chosen as a finalist in the 2008 PPA’s AN-NE Marketing Awards, and was featured in Studio Photography magazine's marketing issue.

The Charitable Marketing Plan and Templates Pack contains the step by step process Debi takes to produce her own annual calendar (she's on her 4th one this year) along with lessons she learned and changes she will make for future years, and over 60 files of sample documents, photoshop templates, and tips for each phase of the project from finding your charity, recruiting models, asking for sponsors, photographing for the calendar, production tasks and sales.

The complete charity marketing pack contains over 60 files with tips, samples and templates to assist you in

  • Finding an ideal charity
  • Finding and working with models for the calendar
  • Asking for and taking money – sponsors
  • Getting free press coverage
  • Using sponsors, models and charity volunteers to help maximize sales
  • Utilizing photoshop templates to make calendar production and advertising a breeze
  • Asking for help, unselfishly

A sure way to save yourself months worth of research, creating contracts, marketing for the calendar, wording applications and announcements and press releases, figuring out optimal time lines for getting the project on track!

If you are not new to EW Couture Collection, you might know my story by now.

I've been working as a graphic designer for over 6 years now. Several of the design projects I've worked on, went on to win contests and receive awards. Fun fact and something that made me smile and proud - I had the honor of creating an award winning identity system for a beautiful bed and breakfast here in Oregon called "The View Point Inn". Later on "The View Point Inn" turned out to be the place where the Prom Scene of Twilight was shot... One of those things that doesn't really add any leverage to your carrier but it does make you smile.

I am a graphic designer by trade and also a photographer, who started creating photo templates first, as little thank you gifts to share with the photographers who have offered me inspiration and help in my journey in photography.
One thing led to another and at the beginning of March this year EW Couture came alive. As of September 1st of this year I am actually retiring from my full time job to focus more on my family and growing EW Couture Collection and Elena Wilken Photographer, and will also be joining
Miller's Lab Design Market team.
